Western Civilization

The 2 year Western Civilization courses are taught by Tom Woods, who holds an A.B. from Harvard University and a M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Columbia University, all in history. He is a senior fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama and a member of the editorial board for the Institute’s Libertarian Papers. Mr. Woods was an ISI Richard M. Weaver Fellow in 1995 and 1996. He received the 2004 O.P. Alford III Prize for Libertarian Scholarship and an Olive W. Garvey Fellowship from the Independent Institute in 2003. He has additionally been awarded two Humane Studies Fellowships and a Claude R. Lambe Fellowship from the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University.

Mr. Woods has taught me a lot about Western Civilization and I was surprised that this became my favorite course during the 10th grade. Not only is he fun to listen too, but this is the first history course that I have ever taken that has ever felt like a real history course. This is probably because Mr. Woods is an actual historian that has two year to teach me Western Civilization, where as most other Curriculums only offer one year of Western Civilization. After taking the first Western Civilization course, I believe it is impossible to fit all of Western Civilization into a one year course because there is too much important information to cover in only one year. I am excited to take the second year course on Western Civilization and I hope your children/child will join me in this exciting Curriculum.
